Doctoral program course obligations:

Seven (7) specialization area courses taken during the doctoral program (excluding the seminar) should satisfy the conditions below:

-  If there are core courses in the student’s area of specialization, a minimum of one core course must be taken.

-  A minimum of four courses (including a core course, if there are core courses in the student’s area of specialization) must be taken from the course pool in the area of specialization.

-  At most two non-ECE courses can be taken from the other graduate programs offered by the university. At most one of these two courses can be from programs outside the Graduate School of Natural Sciences.

-  If a core course or an equivalent from the area of specialization or the other areas in the program has been previously taken during studies towards masters degree, that course might be counted towards the above requirement. However, another course must be taken as a replacement to complete the seven course requirement of the program.

Doctoral Qualification Exam

-  Four subjects will be selected based on the student’s area of specialization by Doctoral Qualification Exam Committee. One question will be asked from each of four subjects.

-  Student is expected to answer minimum of three questions correctly.

(3) In order to complete the program in English, students have to take a minimum of five courses in English and write a dissertation in English.

(4) Specialization in an area can be achieved by choosing at least four of the Area Elective courses in a specific area and by writing a dissertation in that area. Current areas of specialization in the program are:
